Despite the rising Mississippi River, Greenville hosted a wonderful, dry, and completely flood-free weekend for the 2011 USTA League Tennis MS Senior Championships. Leading up to the event, there was much concern for the Delta among the players, staff, and volunteers. City officials, the Levee Board, and the city's Emergency Management System deemed the area safe and ready for the championship. That concern and the thoughts and prayers of the nation continue to go out to the South Delta and other areas all along "The River" that will see devastating evidence of the "100 year flood." In Greenville, MS, the great Levee is keeping the city and its residents safe and dry and local restaurants and hotels were glad to have the best weekend they've seen for a while with all of the tennis players enjoying the unique hospitality and fare of the Delta.
